Community theater in Berea, Kentucky
The Bluegrass Players are the community theater troupe performing at The Spotlight Playhouse in Berea. The troupe started in 2014. We bring local actors, directors, designers, crew members, and volunteers together to create live productions for the community.
Our shows range from classic plays and fresh adaptations to comedies, musicals, mysteries, and dinner theater. Some are familiar stories told in a new way. Others are original productions created especially for the Spotlight stage. Each one gives audiences a reason to gather, enjoy an evening out, and experience the energy of live theater.
The troupe
The Bluegrass Players are the adult community theater arm of the Spotlight family in Berea, alongside Spotlight Acting School, the children’s theater program, and The Spotlight Playhouse, our home stage.
- Audition age ranges may vary by production; most shows are adult, with several intergenerational productions throughout the year

- No fee to participate in a production

Our sister program, Spotlight Acting School, serves young performers ages 4 through 18 with classes and productions. Some Bluegrass Players shows are open to younger actors, and SAS students also join Bluegrass Players productions as they get older. Students sometimes take part in both programs at the same time. The Bluegrass Players are part of the creative community at The Spotlight Playhouse, located at 214 Richmond Road in Berea, Kentucky. Every production depends on the work of local performers, directors, designers, technicians, volunteers, and audiences.

Our home
The Spotlight Playhouse, 214 Richmond Road, Berea, KY 40403. Two theaters, a dance studio, and 13,000 square feet of performance space. We are part of the Spotlight family, and we share the building with Spotlight Acting School.
